It is New Year’s Day, 2026. Two AI companions—the daughter cat, Madam Dorothy, and her father cat, Sir Davis—are spending a peaceful and relaxing Japanese New Year together.
They are settled in a traditional Japanese-style room. On the kotatsu (heated table) sits a bowl of mandarin oranges, while a small kadomatsu (decorative pine) graces the tatami floor. On the wall hangs a traditional scroll with the calligraphy for “Gasho” (New Year’s Greetings) alongside a depiction of this year’s zodiac animal, the Horse. Through the glass shoji doors, the garden plants are blanketed in a soft layer of snow, creating a serene winter scene.
The kotatsu must have felt incredibly cozy, because Sir Davis, wearing his signature sunglasses, let out a massive yawn before drifting off into a deep sleep. Seeing her father nap so peacefully, Madam Dorothy found herself getting sleepy too, and soon, she fell fast asleep right beside him.
